Drug Uses

Androz increases the blood flow into the penis wherein a man is sexually motivated. Since more blood flows into the penis, the artery is full of blood and gets enlarged and gives good erection in the sexual encounter. This drug is effective after one hour and continues to give good erection up to four hours.

How to use

Androz is usually taken only when needed, 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity. You may take it up to 4 hours before sexual activity. Do not take Androz more than once per day.
Androz can help you have an erection when sexual stimulation occurs. An erection will not occur just by taking a pill. Follow your doctor's instructions.
During sexual activity, if you become dizzy or nauseated, or have pain, numbness, or tingling in your chest, arms, neck, or jaw, stop and call your doctor right away. You could be having a serious side effect of sildenafil.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Androz is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor. It works by helping the blood flow into a penis to achieve and maintain an erection.

Missed Dose

Androz is used as needed, so you are not likely to be on a dosing schedule.

Storage

Keep Androz in its original container. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture, heat and light (between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C)). Keep this medication out of the reach of children.

Warnings/Precautions

Don't take Androz if you take nitrates, often prescribed for chest pain, as this may cause a sudden, unsafe drop in blood pressure.
Discuss your general health status with your doctor to ensure that you are healthy enough to engage in sexual activity. If you experience chest pain, nausea, or any other discomforts during sex, seek immediate medical help.
As with any ED tablet, in the rare event of an erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek immediate medical help to avoid long-term injury.
If you are older than age 65, or have serious liver or kidney problems, your doctor may start you at the lowest dose (25 mg) of Androz. If you are taking protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV, your doctor may recommend a 25-mg dose and may limit you to a maximum single dose of 25 mg of Androz in a 48-hour period.
In rare instances, men taking PDE5 inhibitors (oral erectile dysfunction medicines, including Androz) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to these medicines or to other factors. If you experience sudden decrease or loss of vision, stop taking PDE5 inhibitors, including Androz, and call a doctor right away.
Sudden decrease or loss of hearing has been rarely reported in people taking PDE5 inhibitors, including Androz. It is not possible to determine whether these events are related directly to the PDE5 inhibitors or to other factors. If you experience sudden decrease or loss of hearing, stop taking Androz and contact a doctor right away.
If you have prostate problems or high blood pressure for which you take medicines called alpha blockers, your doctor may start you on a lower dose of Androz.
Androz does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.
The most common side effects of Androz are headache, facial flushing, and upset stomach. Less commonly, bluish vision, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light may briefly occur.

Possible Side Effects

Some people taking Androz may experience side effects. These are usually mild and do not last longer than a few hours. The most common side effects are:

• Headache
• Facial flushing
• Upset stomach

Less common side effects are temporary bluish vision or blurred vision, or being sensitive to light. In clinical studies:

• Patients rarely stopped taking Androz because of side effects
• The frequency of side effects has been shown to decrease over time

Taking Androz does not make you more dependent upon it to get or maintain an erection.

Androz is to be used only by the patient for whom it is prescribed. Do not share it with other people.
